Osborne Project
The previous owners had painted the 105-year-old farmhouse a vibrant yellow inspired by the traditional color of Scandinavian country homes. Although it was a pleasing color, the new owners, Mark and Nina Osborne, wanted to update the farmhouse with a more modern sensibility.
To compound the challenge, the previous trim was an oil-base paint that had “alligatored” causing unsightly cracks. To switch to latex, Manor Works selected Sherwin Williams Duration, which can be directly top coated over a pre-existing oil application.
The siding was changed to a periwinkle color combining the hues silver, gray, and blue. The trim was kept white, but the front door was changed to a classic burgundy. The tin roof was painted a charcoal gray that was three shades darker than the color of the siding.
